Working with Phare

The work plan follows the question being examined, the evidence available and the decision the client needs to make.

  1. Define the commercial question

Establish the business, market or operating issue in scope. Agree the decisions the work will inform, the deliverables, access to information and the people responsible for reviewing the findings.

  2. Build the analysis

Review the relevant commercial, financial and operating records. Reconcile definitions, investigate material differences and use external research or interviews where the agreed scope requires them.

  3. Test the recommendation

Compare alternatives and examine the assumptions that could change the conclusion. Discuss the findings with the relevant management teams and address practical constraints before finalizing the recommendation.

  4. Specify the next actions

Present the recommendation with its supporting analysis, limitations and implementation requirements. Identify responsibilities, dependencies and information that should be reviewed as the work moves forward.

Preparing for a conversation

  • A short description of the business question and the functions or markets involved
  • The decision or planning process the work will support
  • An outline of the reports, research or operating records already available
  • Any fixed timing, access or confidentiality requirements

Please send the outline before sharing confidential supporting files. Any information-transfer arrangements and engagement terms can then be agreed for the proposed work.
